Clapperboard Junior Film School is proud to provide budding young filmmakers age 11 to 18 with a unique, holistic foundation in the art of cinema!
Incorporating both theory and practice, the course will teach students how to operate equipment and work on a set while simultaneously providing a clear understanding of the fundamentals of how the art of cinema works.
EACH TERM CARRIES A UNIQUE FORMULA OF FILM PRODUCTION, CINEMA HISTORY, SCREEN WRITING, CINEMATOGRAPHY. SPECIAL FILM PROJECTS, GUEST MASTERCLASSES, EXCURSIONS, Q AND A DISCUSSIONS!
At the end of the three terms, students will have written, filmed and edited a high quality short film which they will get to keep after the course.
This is the ideal course for teenagers considering film making at third level. Working with industry leading tutors, Peadar Mac Donnacha and Gar O’Brien plus special guests on Saturday afternoons from 2.30pm to 5pm IN SCOIL BHRIDE, SHANTALLA RD, GALWAY CITY, FROM SEPTEMBER 2017 TO JUNE 2018! Term 1 x 10 WEEKS
Theory: Writing a script – story structure, character development, script format.
Practice: Lights, camera…- Intro to equipment and on-set roles.
Term 2 X 10 WEEKS
Theory: Editing, rules of cinema (180 degree rule), style and technique.
Practice: …Action! – Shooting the script.
Term 3 X 10 WEEKS
Theory: Industry and history. How films gets made, film festivals and the business of film.
Practice: Editing, delivery and exhibition of Short film.
