Caoimhe Mulcahy, Drama Teacher, Westport

Originally from Clare, Caoimhe graduated from the Gaiety School of Acting’s full time course in 2015. Previously, graduating from N.U.I.Galway with an Honours B.A. in Theatre and Performance and she also holds a Performer’s Diploma A.L.S.M.D. from the Leinster School of Music. Caoimhe’s most recent roles include Queen Elisabeth amongst other historical characters in the television show BLAST FROM THE PAST (Hugh Farrelly, FIREBRAND) for RTE. Her most recent theatre roles include MOOP! at Dublin Fringe Festival 2019 (Game Theory), Girl in BLUE (Anna Newell), Michelle in STRIKE! (Ardent Theatre) Bellhop in ARACHNOPHILIA (Fancy Vegas Productions/Octopus Soup) at the 2018 Dublin Fringe Festival and Fox in THE LITTLE PRINCE - an adaptation by Tartartus Theatre Company. She played the role of Julia and musician in THE CHASTITUTE at the Gaiety Theatre directed by Michael Scott. Previous to this she played Aisling in the world premiere of DUSK (Red Iron Productions) written by the Horslip’s Eamon Carr and directed by Denis Conway. She also took on the dual roles of Realtin and Kate in a staged adaptation of Donal Ryan’s best-selling book THE SPINNING HEART, directed by Paul Brennan. Her Shakespearean roles include Tranio in THE TAMING OF THE SHREW, Ursula in MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING (both with Fortunes Fool’s Productions) and Miranda in THE TEMPEST (with E.N.D.A’s at Schauspielhaus Bochum). Caoimhe has performed in a number of children’s theatre productions, as characters such as Fairy Christmas and Fairy Amelinda with Ofegus Theatre Company. She is also co-founder of Pig Island Theatre Company, whose plays CLICK THIS and The GAPS premiered at Smock Alley. When Caoimhe is not performing herself, she is teaching drama to children, running Shakespeare workshops and transition year drama programmes in schools across the country! A comfortable German speaker and an accomplished singer and musician, playing concertina, piano and fiddle, Caoimhe can’t wait to meet her new students!
